TelTec is committed to respecting our customers’ privacy, and as such, a customer’s personally identifiable information will only be used in the context of customer’s relationship with TelTec. This includes service and billing functions and informing customers of products and services of potential interest.
TelTec customers may use certain pages on the three TelTec websites:
- TelTec website, teltecinc.com,
- TelTec Billing Portal, billcenter.net
- TelTec Webphone and domain management Portal, https://app.teltecinc.com/,
and additionally through the TelTec Mobile App.
The information collected through these pages are business name, business address, business phone number, business email address, name, username, contact and billing information, transaction, and credit card information. Data collected online may also be combined with information provided during ownership registration of Teltec products and services. In order to tailor subsequent communications and continuously improve products and services, TelTec may ask customers to voluntarily provide information regarding customer’s personal or professional interests, demographics, product experience, and contact information.
TelTec uses customer information to better understand customer needs and continuously improve the level of service TelTec provides. Specifically, customer’s information is used to help complete a transaction, to communicate back to customer, to update customer on service and benefits, and to personalize TelTec’s website. Credit card numbers are used only for payment processing and are not utilized for other purposes.
From time to time, TelTec may use customer information to contact customer for market research or to provide customer with information to be of particular interest. At a minimum, customer will have the opportunity to opt out of receiving such direct marketing or market research contact. Where applicable, TelTec also will follow federal and local requirements such as allowing customer to opt out from receiving an unsolicited contact.
TelTec strives to keep customers’ personally identifiable information accurate. Every effort is made to provide customer with online access to customer’s registration data so that Customer may update or correct Customer’s information at any time. TelTec is committed to ensuring the security of customer information. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, appropriate procedures are in place to safeguard and secure the information collected online. TelTec uses encryption when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card information.
TelTec also may collect certain nonpersonally identifiable information when customer visits TelTec’s website. TelTec accomplishes this through the use of “cookies” or tracking mechanisms that collect this type of information. If customer does not want this to happen or wants to know when it does happen, customer’s browser should be set to warn customer or to block cookies (although blocking cookies may affect customer’s use of certain sites). In addition, TelTec or others may use small bits of code called “one-pixel gifs” or “clear gifs” embedded in some web pages to make cookies more effective.
TelTec has put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security and correctly use the information TelTec collects online. However, no transmission of data over the Internet is guaranteed to be completely secure. While TelTec strives to protect customer’s information, TelTec cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information customer transmits to TelTec. Any such transmission is done at customer’s own risk. Neither people nor security systems are foolproof, and people can commit intentional crimes, make mistakes or fail to follow policies. Although TelTec takes certain precautions, TelTec does not guarantee security. Additionally, it may be possible for third parties to intercept or access transmissions or private communications unlawfully. Customer assumes the risk of any failure of security and agrees to do what customer reasonably can to promote security.
What information TelTec collects or processes and, TelTec does so in a reasonable and lawful manner.
The types of information and the purposes for which TelTec collects or processes personal information may include:
Indirect End User Phone Contact Information (Personal Identifiable Information) TelTec acts as a data processor with regard to indirect end user personal identifiable information and our clients act as the data controller of such data. In the course of TelTec processing and protection of such data, all use will be in conformity with the data controller’s instructions.
Specifically, only when enabled via system permission on TelTec Business Mobile App for Android and
TelTec Business Mobile App for iOS, TelTec shows personal contacts within the respective application. When the user sends an SMS message to one of his/her phone contacts, or when the user initiates a call to one of his/her phone contacts, the phone number is sent securely through TelTec’s API. TelTec does not store this number with any other PII, and it cannot be directly or indirectly attributed to any person or persons; TelTec stores only the phone number and pertinent metadata so as to be compliant with all applicable state and federal laws, and TelTec does not share this data with any advertisers or third parties under any circumstances. A user can revoke phone contact access on his/her mobile device at any time, and his/her app experience is not hindered or interrupted.
TelTec Business’ Mobile App for Android or iOS also uses Gravatar, which is a service that provides avatar images linked to the MD5 hash of the user’s email address. This means that we hash each contact’s email address and send it to Gravatar to try and retrieve an avatar image. MD5 hashes cannot be directly or indirectly attributed to any person or persons, and we only send the MD5 hash to Gravatar, never the email address in plain text. As with phone contacts, a user can revoke Gravatar access at any time in Settings and his/her app experience is not hindered or interrupted.
Notwithstanding the above policies and guidelines, the are Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules governing the access, use and disclosure of certain information that TelTec obtains from you if it provides Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, including, but not limited to, “Integrated Voice” and “Hosted Voice” are VoIP services. This information is known as Customer Proprietary Network Information (“CPNI”). You have the right to restrict TelTec from accessing, using or disclosing CPNI in certain circumstances. If you receive VoIP services from TelTec, please refer to Section 7 of the TelTec Terms and Conditions for additional information regarding your CPNI rights.
